Seven Help Tips from the Counselors
Hello Middletown High School community! My name is Lauren Cummings, and I am a senior Psychology major at Frostburg State University. After graduating this May I plan on continuing my education by receiving my masters degree in school counseling. I am extremely grateful to Middletown High School for allowing me to come here and learn from some very intelligent and wonderful school counselors.
As part of my experience here I have been asked to contribute to the article of the month on the school website. I have decided to write about some important skills for students to remember in order to be successful. I have done some research on the American School Counselor Association website and found a handout with twelve great tips on how to be successful as well as get the most out of your high school education. As I mentioned before, I am still a student myself therefore, I know school can become overwhelming and stressful at times. Therefore, I would like to share with you these twelve tips provided by a link on the American School Counselor Association website entitled Secondary Level Sharing: Parent Handouts.
The first tip is to THINK POSITIVELY. This is not always easy because every student has bad days when they feel like they just cannot get anything right. Although every student may experience this feeling at some point, thinking positively and believing in oneself will allow one to achieve much more.
Tip number two is GET ORGANIZED. Being organized is extremely important in order to achieve anything in life. The more organized one is the faster one will be able to get things done.
